Water will be high up slipways in Cowes, affecting Medina Road and the floating bridge. In East Cowes, sea water forced up through drains may cause very minor impacts to the road at Albany Road. After this tide‚ the weather becomes more settled‚ so levels will reduce and no further impacts are expected. We continue to monitor the forecast. At Medina Road, near the Floating Bridge, the tide may rise to be only 0.1m below the top of front door steps. The water level will be high up the slipways in Cowes, affecting Medina Road and the floating bridge. In East Cowes, seawater forced up through drains may cause very minor impacts to the road at Albany Road. The tide level will be a little elevated over the next 4 days and this may cause some minor impacts at each high water until Monday 21/10/24. We continue to monitor the forecast. At Medina Road, near the Floating Bridge, the tide may rise to be only 0.1m below the top of front door steps. Total forecast tide is 4.61 metres Chart Datum (2.02 mAOD) at Cowes. For 1 hour either side of high water, flooding of seafront roads, esplanades and car parks is expected. Water levels will be very high in Cowes, affecting Medina Road (floating bridge) and Sea Street (Newport). In East Cowes, seawater forced up through drains will cause minor impacts to the road at Albany Road, Well Road, York Avenue and Castle Street. The ferry terminal car park at Yarmouth will flood. Tide levels will be a little elevated over the next 4 days, causing some minor impacts at each high water until Monday. We continue to monitor the forecast. The tide will come near to the top of front door steps at Medina Road. Well Road, East Cowes may be affected by water in the road. Property flooding is expected in Yarmouth, Gurnard, East and West Cowes and Wootton. For 1 hour either side of high water, spray overtopping of sea defences will flood coastal roads and car parks around the island. Flood water in some roads will be up to 0.5m deep. After this tide, the weather becomes more settled but minor impacts could continue until Thursday (11/04/2024). We continue to monitor the forecast. Tides of this magnitude are dangerous. Wednesday afternoon's tide at 14:30 on 28/12/2022 is higher than normal due to unsettled weather with strong South Westerly Force 7 winds and large waves. The weather increases tide table values by 0.58 m. The total forecast tide is 4.70 metres Chart Datum (2.11 mAOD) at Cowes. For 1 hour either side of high water, large waves will cause spray overtopping and overwashing of defences across the exposed coast at Freshwater Bay, Sandown, Shanklin, Gurnard and Ryde. This will flood sea front esplanades, car parks and roads. As Cowes is largely sheltered from the waves, impacts will be more minimal. We do not expect property flooding. At 03:45 on 29/12/2022, as wave heights remain elevated, some minor impact spray overtopping affecting the southern coastal frontage may continue. After this time, no further impacts are expected. We continue to monitor the forecast. At high tide, avoid parking, walking or driving at exposed sea front locations. We will remove this message by 18:00 on 28/12/2022.
